Playwright: Recent credits include Human Sacrifice, performed in the Cultura Inglesa festival in Brazil and Maya and the Whale, produced by IAP, touring with Imaginate and National Theatre of Scotland as part of the TiSS programme. Hazel was a Playwright Studio Scotland mentee 2019-20 exploring how we tell stories about Climate Breakdown with her mentor Lewis Hetherington. 

Performer: Hazel has been performing theatre for over 20 years and often performs work that she has created or helped devise but also loves an opportunity for straight acting.  

Podcast host and producer: Hazel's podcast series include: People to People, CliMates, small small rainbows, the Porty Podcast and motherrunner podcast. 


Workshop Leader: Hazel has recently created a gamified workshop called 'The Time Travelling Game' to help imagine what our future might be like living through Climate Breakdown. Other workshops she's created include What is the Artists Role in a Green Revolution? and Childcare, Climate Change and Cake!

Community Climate Action: Hazel is a driving force behind Porty Community Energy Bike Library and Active Travel Hub. She also started the Porty Community Fridge which rescues food and distributes it to 80+ families each week. 

FST Mentorship programme: Hazel was previously a mentee on the Federation of Scottish Theatre’s mentorship programme.

CPD:  Decolonising the Curriculum with Take One Action, Anti-racism training with the Anti-racist educator collective, Imaginate master class with Joris van Oosterwijk and Shanti Straub, Citz Open Access ‘Inclusive Access with People with Physical Disabilities’ training with Caroline Bowditch and Linda Payne,  Edinburgh International Festival Arts Practitioners course 2011, Object Manipulation with Sue Buckmaster, Imaginate Winter Master class with David Harradine, Imaginate Winter Master class with Guy Dartnell, Table top and shadow puppetry RSAMD Summer school, Sensory theatre with Oily Cart Theatre company, La Baracca Artists conference 2010 (Italy,) London School of Puppetry (Rod Puppet Course).

Voice work: Hazel enjoys voice over work and has worked on a number of animations, adverts, apps and exhibitions. She has a studio set up at home. 

Qualifications: Queen Margaret University College, BA (Acting) 2003-6, HNC (Acting) Telford College 2003  

Other interests: When she's not working you will probably find Hazel running up a hill, cooking up a feast or playing with her kids.
